Devils suspend rookie Danton for not reporting to minors

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The New Jersey Devils suspended rookie center Mike Danton on Tuesday for failing to report to the minors.

Danton was assigned to the AHL's Albany River Rats on Friday after complaining about playing time.

This is the second straight year that Danton and Lamoriello have had problems. Danton sat out most of last season after disagreeing with Lamoriello about a medical diagnosis. The player failed to report to Albany then, too.

Danton had two goals and 35 penalty minutes in 17 games with the Devils this season.

He changed his name from Mike Jefferson in the offseason.
