Coyotes sign backup goalie Pelletier to multiyear deal

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Backup goalie Jean-Marc Pelletier signed a multiyear contract Thursday with the Phoenix Coyotes, who acquired him from Carolina last month.

Pelletier played in two games -- both losses -- for Phoenix before being sent to the AHL's Springfield Falcons on Jan. 7. He won two of his first three games there.

Before being dealt from Carolina for Coyotes third-string goalie Patrick DesRochers, Pelletier had a 6-10-0 record for the AHL's Lowell Lock Monsters.

Pelletier was a second-round draft pick of the Philadelphia Flyers in 1997 and made his NHL debut with them in 1998-99.
