Islanders sign former rookie of the year RW Campbell

NEW YORK -- The New York Islanders signed right wing Jim Campbell on Wednesday.

Terms of the contract were not released.

Campbell won the Calder Trophy in 1997 as the NHL rookie of the year while playing for the St. Louis Blues.

He had 10 goals and 13 assists in 41 games for the AHL's Chicago Wolves last season. Campbell has spent time with Anaheim, St. Louis, Montreal, Chicago and Florida over parts of eight NHL seasons.
