Kristian Huselius and Andreas Lilja of the Florida Panthers, and Henrik Tallinder of the Buffalo Sabres were questioned Thursday night and released. None were charged with a crime.
"Because of the turbulence of the last 24 hours, and with regard for what's best for the team, Kristian, Anders and Henrik have given up their spots," said Michael Englund, the national team's general manager.
Police said the players were questioned about the alleged assault of a 21-year-old woman, which reportedly happened at the same hotel the players and their teammates were staying in.
The players missed the first game of the Sweden Hockey Games tournament because of the police investigation.
Sweden beat the Czech Republic 3-2 after penalty shots.
Many NHL players are skating in Europe due to the lockout.
