BOSTON -- Free-agent forwards Glen Murray, Shawn McEachern and Dave Scatchard agreed to terms with the Boston Bruins on Tuesday.
The signings came one day after the Bruins acquired left wing Brad Isbister from Edmonton for a fourth-round draft choice in 2006. Murray, already in his second stint with the Bruins, agreed to a four-year deal while McEachern received a two-year contract.
During the 2003-04 season, Murray had a team-high 32 goals and added 28 assists. In 13 NHL seasons that also includes time with Pittsburgh and Los Angeles, the right winger has 268 goals and 255 assists in 823 games. He has played in the last two All-Star games.
Scatchard left the New York Islanders for a four-year deal in Boston. In seven NHL seasons with New York and Vancouver, he has 80 goals, 80 assists, and 622 penalty minutes.
The Bruins had very few players under contract when the lockout ended last month and were poised to move aggressively to sign free agents who might not fit under other teams' salary caps.
Boston's top two forwards, Joe Thornton and Sergei Samsonov, are unsigned restricted free agents. They can become unrestricted free agents after next season.
Murray was with the Bruins for four seasons before being traded to Pittsburgh in August 1995. He rejoined the club early in the 2001-02 season as part of a deal the Bruins made with Los Angeles.
McEachern, who had 24 goals in his only season with Boston in 1995-96, spent the last two seasons with Atlanta.
He was the Thrashers' second leading scorer with 55 points, including 17 goals, during the 2003-04 season when he served as team captain. During the lockout, he played in 16 games with Malmo in Sweden -- scoring one goal and adding two assists.
McEachern spent six seasons with Ottawa before being traded to Atlanta in June 2002. He has 254 goals and 317 assists in 883 NHL games with Boston, Pittsburgh and Los Angeles.
