PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Penguins re-signed forward Ryan Malone on Thursday.
The 25-year-old Malone scored a team-high 22 goals and had 21 assists in 81 games in the 2003-04 season. He was tied for third in assists for Pittsburgh and ranked fourth among NHL rookies in goals.
He was the first Penguins rookie to score 20 goals since the 1992-93 season when Shawn McEachern had 28. Malone, the Penguins fourth-round pick in the 1999 draft, is the son of Penguins scout Greg Malone.
