Fire up the organ for this hockey parody
'Twas the Night before Christmas and around the NHL
Disappointment
abounded, for Mario's deal had gone to hell
The Pens future in
Pittsburgh, he could no longer guarantee
Expect the team to head
elsewhere, most likely to K.C.
Sadly for Steel-towners, they'll have to do without Sid
Already
reached greatness, and he's still just a kid
The good news for the
league, is there are others to celebrate
Like Malkin, Dion and Anze,
and of course, Alexander the Great

| Sidney Crosby's in demand, regardless of where the Pens one day land. (US PRESSWIRE) |
With their energy and enthusiasm, they make the game more fun
Actually it's much better now, credit the new rules put in place
Which give the sport's true talents, their freedom and their space
So Buffalo, San Jose and Nashville, the teams that really skate
Just
love the new NHL, because they dominate
It doesn't hurt much either,
to have a cap apply to all
Meaning anyone can win in June, no matter
if their market's small
For now though it looks like the team, everyone has to tame
Is the
one that's still called Anaheim, even without the Mighty in their name
The
Ducks have been outstanding, with Nieds and Pronger heading up the D
Though
when it comes to playoff time, you never know what will be
The Oilers proved just last year, blooming late is good perhaps
Could
happen again this time, maybe even with the Caps
Atlanta has a shot
to do it, thanks to Hossa and Mr. K
And the way coach Guy is leading,
the Habs won't fade away
With Marty and the Dominator, Jersey and the Wings will be around
And
if Gaborik ever gets back on skates, the Wild might go to town
The
Bruins are an improving bunch, the Sens and Stars have a shot
Jags
and Shanny are quite a pair, and the 'Canes can still get hot
What's nice this season are second chances, they've proven oh so rich,
Just
look at Nolan and the Isles, or to Buckeye land, now that they have Hitch
The
Bolts' big three remain in tow, and the Leafs can now attack
And
don't forget Chicago folks, where the 'Hawks are back on track
Still not everything's been smooth this season, as the Flyers play
surely proves
And despite so many major changes, St. Louis still
sings the Blues
Florida is still trying to find its way, while the
Avs are rolling down
The Canucks don't help their new goalie much,
and J.R. makes Gretzky frown
Scoring and attendance numbers, both are in decline
And with more
hits aimed at the head, well, that's never a real good sign
But on
the whole, things are good with plenty for us to cheer
So to everyone
we want to wish, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
