PHILADELPHIA -- The Flyers claimed Russian
winger Dmitry Afanasenkov off waivers
from the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday.
Afanasenkov had spent his entire National Hockey League career in Tampa
after being drafted by the Lightning in 1998. He was part of the 2004
team that won the Stanley Cup.
The 26-year-old Afanasenkov appeared in 33 games this season, scoring
three goals and six points while registering a minus-6 rating.
Philadelphia is currently the NHL's worst team, with nine wins and 22
points heading into play on Saturday.
