Ryan Potulny and Dustin Penner scored two of Edmonton's four power-play goals past Craig Anderson, and the Oilers handed the Colorado Avalanche their first home loss of the season, 5-3 on Sunday. "We put ourselves in a hole with the penalties," Anderson said. "Too many men on the ice is a mental error, but shooting the puck over the glass for a delay penalty is just bad luck." Anderson made 27 saves in the loss.

Matt Hendricks was activated before Friday's game against Chicago from the injured reserve and wasted no time getting into a scuffle. Barely two minutes into the game, Hendricks and Colin Fraser exchanged some shoves near the Chicago bench. Both were sent to the bench to serve five minutes for fighting. Hendricks has missed the last five games with a groin injury. He had no points in 7:15 of ice time.

The Sports Xchange reports the Avalanche played without right wing Milan Hejduk, who warmed up but didn't play because of a sore back, on Sunday against the Oilers. He's listed as day to day. The Avalanche especially missed Hejduk on the power play. Colorado went 0-for-4 against the Oilers.
