The Sports Xchange reports Red Wings D Nicklas Lidstrom has gone 22 games without a goal, but it's far from the longest drought of his career. He went 48 games without a goal during the 1992-93 season, his second in the league.

The Detroit Free Press reports that Red Wings C Valtteri Filppula now has his injured wrist fitted with a soft cast. "We’ll see how much longer I have to keep it on," he said. "It’s tough to say -- we just have to go a week at a time to see how it is healing, then get rid of the cast, and then see how it moves and everything. But now I can really skate better, so I’m looking forward to get a little more out there and skating a little longer. That’s going to help going back."

Babcock put Datsyuk and Zetterberg together midway through Wednesday's 2-0 loss to Atlanta and said, "Our team didn't play the same. We were better at the start of that game."

The Sports Xchange reports Red Wings forward Todd Bertuzzi views his play through one-quarter of the season as "kind of half-empty, half-full." Coach Mike Babcock is pleased with Bertuzzi's skating and back-checking. But the big winger is committing too many turnovers and isn't finishing. He has just three goals and nine points in 25 games heading into Monday's game vs. Dallas. But Bertuzzi scored what might be his biggest goal of the season Saturday, one that won't be reflected in his personal statistics. Bertuzzi's shootout goal lifted the Wings to a 4-3 win over St. Louis. Now Bertuzzi is hoping to pick up his play during regulation. "It's frustrating not putting up the amount of goals and points I think I can do," Bertuzzi said. "I've gotten the opportunity to do it, kind of (had) a handful of bad bounces here and there, could easily have six, seven goals instead of three. Just got to keep grinding and working hard. I know that it comes in bunches."

Red Wings G Chris Osgood couldn't outperform Miikka Kiprusoff on Friday and shouldered a 3-0 loss against the Flames. A goal from Jamie Lundmark 28 seconds into the game was all the offense Calgary needed. Osgood stopped 14 shots. The Red Wings have lost five of their last six games and have lost four in a row at Joe Louis Arena for the first time in almost two years.
