News
Zetterberg added an assist to a 6-3 loss to the Panthers on Thursday.

Zetterberg has been a little less explosive since the new year began, with six points in 13 games. He also hasn't had a multi-point effort since Dec. 27, which isn't what you want to see from a premier fantasy player. He does provide a fair amount of consistency, but is no longer can carry the Detroit offense (or fantasy teams) like he used to.

News
Quincey dished an assist for the second straight game Wednesday, recording a point in a 3-1 loss to the Lightning.

Quincey has missed more than half the season with ankle and concussion issues, but has been decently productive when in the lineup. He has five points in 15 games after not scoring more than 18 in the previous three seasons.

News
Green scored his first goal since Dec. 22 on Thursday, scoring on a power play in a 6-3 loss to Florida.

Because some clouds have a dark and stormy lining, he also went minus-2 and took a penalty. We're clearly far from Green's heyday with the Capitals, but the meager 20 points he's put up in 45 games for Detroit this year have been even more disappointing than expected. Only his power-play production and name brand are keeping him on the fringes of fantasy relevance.

News
Howard was beaten five times on 32 shots Thursday in a 6-3 loss at the hands of the Panthers -- his seventh consecutive defeat.

Not only has Detroit been taking loss after loss (three of them in overtime, at least) with Howard between the pipes, but he can't even blame a suspect offense -- the 31-year-old netminder has been atrocious over the course of this stretch, averaging nearly four goals per start with a save mark of .885. At this point, the only thing that should make the Wings start him over a healthy Petr Mrazek is a back-to-back set; their next one will be Valentine's Day and the day after.

News
Abdelkader was credited with a pair of power-play assists Thursday in a 6-3 loss to the Panthers.

A white-hot start to the year may have had owners overvaluing Abdelkader, who's good for a multi-point outburst here and there, but has been an inconsistent producer nonetheless. The man-advantage points were his first since Dec. 10, and the multi-point effort his first since Dec. 1.

Tomas Tatar, # 21

News
Tatar picked up an assist in Wednesday's 3-1 loss to Tampa Bay.

Tatar isn't quite matching last year's breakout campaign, but does have 14 goals and 15 points in 49 games. He's unlikely to hit 56 point like in 2014-15, but 50 is not out of the question.

News
Mrazek will protect the net Saturday against the Islanders, Brendan Savager of MLive.com reports.

Mrazek continues to be the presumed top option for the Red Wings in goal, but his previous outing (three goals allowed on 23 shots) left much to be desired. Despite the effort, Mrazek still owns an 18-10-4 record with a 2.06 GAA and .931 save percentage, and will look to improve on it as he prepares for an Islanders club that's scored seven goals in the two games since the All-Star break.

News
Nyquist netted a goal in a 3-1 loss to the Lightning on Wednesday.

Nyquist certainly started the second half of the season the right way, although he didn't get any help from his teammates. However, the emergence of Dylan Larkin has hurt Nyquist this season, as he doesn't get as many minutes playing on the third line.

News
Larkin struck for a pair of goals -- one on the power play -- in Thursday's 6-3 loss to the Panthers.

The rookie sensation scored on the man advantage with 5.5 seconds left in the first period after a pass found him wide open in the high slot with no one else around and he fired it in off the underside of the crossbar. But the second -- only 1:08 later in game time -- was truly remarkable, as he picked off an errant puck in his own zone, took it down the other way, and wristed it past a stunned Luongo. With five points in the last five games, he's officially hot again after going through a brief mid-January skid.
