News
Mason gave up five goals on 17 shots before getting pulled from Sunday's 5-0 loss to the Capitals.

That's now two straight games where coach Dave Hakstol yanked Mason due to poor performance. Mason has yielded seven goals on the last 41 shots he's faced. After really good last two months, Mason is 1-3-2 with a .854 save percentage and 3.82 GAA to start January. Expect Michael Neuvirth, who started Saturday, to receive some additional work this coming week.

News
Neuvirth came on in relief for Steve Mason for the second time in four days and stopped all five shots he faced in a 5-0 loss to the Capitals on Sunday.

The 28-year-old is perfect, making 19 saves and allowing no goals in his last two relief appearances, but in between those two games, Neuvirth - in his most recent start - yielded five goals in a loss to the Bruins on Saturday. Nothing is going right for either Philadelphia goaltender right now, but as long as Mason struggles, the door will remain open for Neuvirth to steal playing time.

News
Giroux picked up two power-play assists Saturday in a 6-3 loss to Boston. The points extended his current streak to three games and four assists, all of which have come on the power play.

Giroux is a beast on the PP this year. He has seven helpers in his last seven games and six have come with the man advantage. And 21 of his 38 points (45 games) have come from there, too. Giroux's 28 helpers are good enough for a tie for fifth in the NHL. Moreover, those 21 power-play points lead the league. Giroux is worth every penny this season. Use him well.

Injuries
Lower Body - Expected to be out until at least Jan 21 (Updated - 1/15/17)
News
Read (lower body) is not in the lineup again for Sunday's contest against the Capitals, Stephen Whyno of the Associated Press reports.

Read skipped Saturday's game against Boston due to the lower-body ailment and it appears he'll rest through the team's bye week. Following Sunday's contest, the Flyers don' play again until next Saturday against the Devils, giving the veteran plenty of time to heal. The team should update the veteran's status ahead of the game, but his 11 points (six goals, five assists) don't make Read the most intriguing of fantasy options.

News
Gostisbehere will rejoin the lineup Sunday after serving as a healthy scratch Saturday against the Bruins, Stephen Whyno of the Associated Press reports.

Ghostisbehere has struggled along the blue line recently, so coach Dave Hakstol likely gave the young defenseman a day off to reset. He will rejoin the lineup Sunday, but he's hit a bit of a sophomore slump with just 19 points through 42 games and a minus-15 rating.
