The Calgary Flames participate in the National Hockey League
(NHL) and are based in Calgary, Alta., Canada. Calgary is a
member of the Northwest Division of the Western Conference. The
Flames, who joined the league as the Atlanta Flames in 1972 and
moved to Alberta in 1980, play home games at the Penngrowth
Saddledome and have won one Stanley Cup (1989).
