The New York Islanders participate in the National Hockey League
(NHL) and are based in Uniondale, N.Y. New York is a member of
the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference. The Islanders,
founded in 1972, play home games at Nassau Coliseum and have won
four Stanley Cups (1980, 1981, 1982, 1983).
