In Ilya Kovalchuk's shadow, Rich Peverley remains an impact guy with a league-leading five game-winners among his 10 goals.
11/23/20092111
Atlanta is struggling at home but tough when it gets a lead. The Thrashers are 7-0 when scoring first and 6-0 when ahead after the first period.
11/17/20091120
Ilya Kovalchuk came back with a vengeance for the Thrashers, who are unbeaten in the seven games they've scored first.
11/10/20092022
Atlanta is 3-3 since Ilya Kovalchuk was hurt, mainly because the defensemen have picked up the scoring slack with 12 of the Thrashers' 19 goals.
11/03/20092222
Still waiting for Nik Antropov to score his first goal, although his 10 assists have helped the Kovalchuk-less Thrashers.
10/27/2009228
Tough night for him against the Caps, but Ondrej Pavelec is doing some pretty good work in goal for the Thrashers.
10/20/2009817
It's all about offense for the Thrashers in their best start ever. Atlanta has the NHL's most dangerous power play and leads the league in overall scoring.
10/13/20091714
Ilya Kovalchuk is off to a fast start with five goals in his first three games. Last season it took him a dozen games to get to this point.
10/06/20091426
Time to prove it for the Thrashers, who won their season opener last year as well and now hit the road for five games. They finished last season on a 12-6 run but were 23-35-6 before that, so ...

Nothing will really matter until the Thrashers figure out if Ilya Kovalchuk will be there for the long term.

Roger Neilson was born on June 16, 1934 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Unknowingly, it was then that the path was established to launch Neilson into his journey to become a lifelong coach. An innovative and colourful bench boss, Neilson was noted for his sometimes unconventional coaching methods as he continually tested the boundaries defined by the sport's rules and regulations with his ability to ...(more)

2 goals in 9 games thus far, with a team worst -6 +/- rating.  Do you guys see why he was available yet?  Tired of him yet?  As a Sabre fan, seeing my team play together, better because of his and Kotalik's departure, is nice to say the least.

Gotta give the Thrashers a little love. They have come out and played great through the first 4 games. They opened with a tough road trip and are holding their own and more. The team makeup looks better. Time will tell, but at least now we have the 30 yr old player group down to a reasonable number!
