--The Wings need their best players to lead the way in order to snap out of their early season funk, and Pavel Datsyuk is doing just that. Datsyuk has picked up the pace since returning from an upper-body injury that idled him for two games. He has two goals and six assists in his last six games after notching only two assists in his first five games.

--After going just 2 for 18 on the power play in their previous four games, the Wings focused on better puck retrieval during the man advantage. Captain Nicklas Lidstrom said they are passing up too many shot opportunities as well. And the second power-play unit is having difficulty getting clean entries without the injured Valtteri Filppula, who's an excellent puck-carrier.
