--Brodeur has made 47 straight starts, dating back to the end of last season and the playoffs.

--D Anssi Salmela made his NHL debut and looked good, taking his shift and playing on the power play.

--D Colin White took down Kyle Okposo in the first period Friday night, leading to a penalty shot.

--RW Barry Tallackson, who had surgery Sept. 26 to correct an irregular heartbeat, skated for the first time Friday.

--Fs Rod Pelley and Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond were the final cuts.

--C Fedor Fedorov cleared waivers and was expected to return to Russia.

Screw Hockey's Future site rating the Devils 29th out of 30 teams in youth talent. We might not have the Crosby's in our system but i'll take the Parise's anyday of the week. As many know on this site, I've been a big complainer about the Devils not having good young players in their system or when they do they don't play them. Well I can't ...(more)

And for the first time in my life I saw a skatesluing call?  I never even heard of it but Leblonde got booted for doing it to a Soundtiger before a faceoff.  It was a very dirty play.  He just kicked the feet right out from the guy.  I got to see Robitale right below me in the penalty box for about the whole 2nd period.

We got shutout but we did put 39 sh

I figured I'd start a thread that we can hopefully keep around for a large part of the season that just touches on some random things that we notice during the games that aren't 100% related to each and every post-game thread.

I wanted to start out by saying how much I love Rob Niedermayer.  Besides playing ...(more)

All Devils fans on the Boards here Happy and Healthy Thanksgiving to you and your family.I am thankful for the many blessings I have. Though hockey related I am happy that the Devils are playing well and we are seeing some of the future talent develop AND contribute right before our eyes. Last nights game was great and another Goal for Bergf ...(more)

The preseason is over and it's only mere days until the entire free world tunes in to the Rangers opener.  Jets 3-0, Yanks, Rangers.  It's all good

Sniper

I say it's Parise.  I don't think he has the hardest shot but the kid just gets it past the goalie somehow some way.  Rolston is my runner up he takes some whicked shots on the power play.

Passer

I actually think it's Pops.  He convinced me last night with the way he finds the tape on guys sticks.  A close runner up is Big Z.

....Apparently in Anaheim Fans are a little high strung.Scott Niedermayer tried giving his stick away into the crowd and a brawl erupted. Amazing,I know all Anaheim fans arent this way but the few involved that marred this moment are a joke. Anyway Congrats Scott it was a nice try at trying to give something nice away for free,to bad it was ruined.

Here's what I know.

I know that the Devils have a vacancy in their head coaching spot.

I also know that a familiar friend, Jacques Lemaire, doesn't have a team to coach.

Finally, I know that a good majority of Devils fans reading this are already rolling their eyes and hitting the red 'x' at the top corner of the page. I' ...(more)

I just checked Forbes' most valuable hockey teams list and the Devils ranked 10th. I've got to say that I'm surprised. I was reading some threads before the season started and a bunch of people were saying that if the league would cut some teams from the league, the Devils would at least be considered. I guess winning trumps sentiment. ...(more)

It's a shame Clarkson takes the hit and goes on the checking line.  But I would never seperate Parise from Zajac.  I can sub in any 3rd guy like Elias, Pops or even Clarkson.  But these two work on one brain.  I'm not sure why they were seperated in the first place.  I also like the Pops, Rolston and Zubrus.  I'll go out on a limb and say that might be the best passin ...(more)

I loved at the end of the game last night when he gave props to Salvador.  He was right on when he said Salvador was the player of the game.  He basically turned his body into a pin cushion with all the pucks he took off the body.

I'm not sure if you guys noticed it or not but this kid can play both ends of the ice very well.  I'm really pulling for this kid to make it on this team for a long time.

WHy can't we win at home? It can't be tougher teams... we beat Pitt and Washington away.  And "if" the fans aren't showing up and more opposing fans shouldn't they just try and see it as more motivation like another away game ala the Giants against the Patriots and throughout the playoffs?  I would like to see them to start to win at home more, with their road record and agains ...(more)

What do you guys think 2 years away?  Jacobson is a prototypical Lou center who can play both ways.  But Tenendy is a speedster which we haven't had for a long time if ever.  I cannot wait for this kid to at least get to Lowell so I can go watch him fly down the ice.  A lot of scouting reports say he is the best playmaking prospect the ...(more)

Wow it seems like this guy should be about 30 years old but he's only 22.  I'm really starting to like his game.  I was wondering what you guys thought his top numbers would be per year.  I'm thinking he could be a 20-30 goal type guy.  I think he's a typical Lou type guy who is unselfish and can move around on any line and play on both ends of the ice and be okay.  I'm no ...(more)
