Coyotes report: Inside shots
One game remains in the regular season, and the Coyotes will be taking on the defending Stanley Cup champions in Anaheim on Sunday.
Coach Wayne Gretzky will continue to give the youngsters a lot of ice time, as the team tries to end the season on a high note.
The Coyotes, with nothing to lose in the season finale, are hoping to get into a better offensive flow. They need to put more shots on net, and that likely will be a priority.
Gretzky switched up his lines again on Thursday, but there seems little doubt that he will keep the line of left wing Shane Doan, center Kyle Turris and right wing Peter Mueller. He likes the concept of the veteran grinder Doan keeping on eye on prized rookie Turris, who will be playing in his third NHL game Sunday.
COYOTES 4, STARS 2: Rookie Daniel Carcillo, the NHL's leader in penalty minutes (304), stunned the Stars with his first career hat trick, his third goal coming with three seconds left on an open net. His second was on a power play. Rookie Martin Hanzal's goal gave the Coyotes a 3-2 lead in the second period.
