PLAYER NOTES

--LW Mikkel Boedker scored his fourth goal of the season and his second in two games to get the Coyotes even a 1-1 in the first period. Again playing with friends and former San Antonio linemates Kyle Turris and Brett McLean, Boedker was the only Phoenix forward with a plus Saturday (plus-one) and played more than 12 minutes.

--D Rostislav Klesla had a very tough night. He was on the ice for three of San Jose's four goals and was a minus-three in 16 minutes of ice time. The Coyotes had a hard time controlling and clearing rebounds against the Sharks and Klesla was a prime example on goals by Logan Couture and Ryan Clowe.

--RW Paul Bissonnette had only nine fights in his first 41 games this season. But he's been really active of late. He had two fights against St. Louis Tuesday, suffered a broken nose in a bout with Jared Stoll of Columbus on Thursday and found another dance partner Saturday -- going with Ryan Clowe late in the third period.

MEDICAL WATCH

--C Vernon Fiddler missed Saturday's game with a lower body injury suffered in the third period of Thursday's win over Columbus. Fiddler was helped off the ice and the injury appeared to be serious. He is listed as day-to-day.

--C Lauri Korpikoski missed Saturday's game with an upper body injury suffered in the second period of Thursday's win over Columbus. Korpikoski, who is tied for the team lead with 18 goals, is listed as day-to-day.

--C Martin Hanzal missed his 10th straight game with what is believed to be a back injury, and coach Dave Tippett said after the game that Hanzal hasn't started skating yet. The Coyotes were hoping to have him back sometime during this six-game homestand, but it is more likely Hanzal could miss the rest of the regular season.

--D Ed Jovanovski is likely out for the rest of the regular season after undergoing orbital bone surgery. He is now skating every day to build up his conditioning as his face heals.
