--It won't show up as one on the scoresheet, but D Mike Green made a great save in the final minute of the game. While skating backward, he made a kick save of a shot that was headed into the empty net.

--RW Alexander Semin, after taking two silly third-period penalties, had a chance to make up for it by getting a breakaway when coming out of the box following his second penalty, but he couldn't beat Devils goalie Martin Brodeur.

--The loss was the Caps' third in a row and ended their nine-game point streak on the road. The Caps went 6-0-3 during that run.
