--Coach Bruce Boudreau must like to play the Lightning. Why shouldn't he? The Caps are 12-0 against their division rivals from Florida under Boudreau. Tampa Bay used to give the Caps trouble, even beating them in the playoffs a few years ago, but those days are long gone.

--The Caps helped goaltender Semyon Varlamov with their solid defense once more. They blocked 15 shots, and even though the rookie made some key stops, the way the defense helped Varlamov made his job that much easier.
