Everything had been going smoothy for U.S.A.'s women's volleyball team in London. They shored up a lock on a win of Group B in their win over Serbia Friday, and were cruising again vs. Turkey. But that luck may have finally hit a hitch.
Setter Lindsey Berg suffered an injury in the second set vs. Turkey and had to leave immediately. Her coach was overhead saying to an official on NBC "she's hurt." NBC later reported that Berg had said "I felt something pop" in her leg as she was icing what appeared to be a lower calf or Achilles injury. She did not return.
Team USA head coach Hugh McCutcheon said after the match on NBA that the belief was that she did not suffer a tear of anything, and that they're hopeful she'll be "OK."
The 32-year-old Berg is in the midst of her third Olympics, and her first as starting setter. Berg had not faulted in these Olympics. Team USA would go on to win the match in a sweep.
