Colombia's Andrade suspended two games by FIFA for punching Wambach

None of the officials on the field saw Colombian women's soccer midfielder Lady Andrade slug Team USA's Abby Wambach during the Americans' 3-0 win Saturday. But, as always, the video cameras did--and now Andrade's Olympics are over.

Sports Illustrated Grant Wahl reported Monday that FIFA has suspended Andrade for two games, including her team's final Group G match vs. France. Barring a miraculous, multiple-goal victory for the Colombians -- who have yet to score once in five matches at the World Cup and the Olympics -- the second game of the suspension will be served at Colombia's first post-Olympics international.

Andrade delivered the sucker punch late in the first half as both players ran back towards the Colombian penalty area. Wambach remained on the turf for nearly a minute before returning to play, and, predictably, scored the U.S.'s second goal to clinch the U.S.'s berth in the quarterfinals.

The injury won't do much to hamper the seemingly indestructible Wambach, who tweeted this message Sunday:

So congratulations, Andrade: you've bought yourself an early ticket home, your team stil lost the game by three goals, and now you've just made the world's best striker angry. Good work, and work for which we're sure the U.S.'s future opponents (starting with North Korea Tuesday) will thank you.
