With an individual all-around gold and a team all-around gold, Gabby Douglas has become America's superstar sweetheart at these Games. So, naturally, she'll be part of a healthy morning breakfast, too.
Wasting little time turning around the cover and revving the hype/PR machine into full gear, Kellogg's on Friday morning sent out the display that will occupy thousands of store shelves on aisle 4s across the country this fall.
What do you think?
It's about as American as you can get. The red of the strawberries accented so tastefully by the stripes of the flag. The only thing that doesn't jibe with it is that gray windbreaker that USA officials agreed to have every American Olympian wear to the medal podium.
It's so drab. What's the about, anyway? Our champions look like northern camp counselors.
Anyway, Douglas is now entering the throes of American superstardom. She's got that It Quality, and in no time she'll be one of the most recognizable American athletes out there. Plus, at just 16, the road is likely only beginning. If her performance and ability continue to improve, she'll have the glory and pleasure of going for a repeat in 2016, when she and most likely Ryan Lochte will be the two most-hyped athletes heading into those Games.
