After moving past the preliminaries in the 400 meters (finishing in 45.44, the 16th-fastest time) on Saturday morning in London, it seemed only appropriate and fitting to take a moment and spotlight the history that was made by South African runner Oscar Pistorius.
As you can see, Pistorius doesn't have legs. His situation has made all too much room for debate, debate that will find more volume and space the further Pistorius moves on in Olympic competition.
But we'll save that for another time. Here are five memorable shots of Pistorius' groundbreaking day at Olympic Stadium. They are unquestionably unique and very damn inspiring. In my humble opinion, this is the spirit of the Olympics: defined.
