The American and Canadian women met in the Olympics on Wednesday and even though the game was really for nothing more than seeding in the knockout round, it's always more than that when the USA and Canada play in hockey. Always.
There is no rivalry in the women's game that comes even close to USA vs. Canada. Heck, that might be true in the men's game as well. It's fierce, it's competitive and it's always a blast.
With the Olympics as the backdrop, it was a great scene that brought out the stars of Sochi. Here's a visual tour of what you
hopefully didn't might have missed as Canada held off the USA for a 3-2 win. Photos via Getty Images unless otherwise noted.
Of course with the USA and Canada playing, the stands were full. That of course included a lot of members of Team USA and Team Canada, as in the men. Clearly the animosity hasn't set in yet as there was no buffer needed in the seats. They're still NHL pals for now, even with the great North American rivalry taking place on the ice. Then there's the view from the seats that comes from American men's forward T.J. Oshie.
