Triple jumper Tamgho (ankle) out of London Olympics

CBSSports.com wire reports

PARIS -- Triple jump indoor world-record holder Teddy Tamgho of France says he will miss the London Olympics because of an ankle injury.

Tamgho said Monday that he did not want to jeopardize his career after undergoing surgery last week for a bone outgrowth on his right ankle.

He missed last year's world championships in Daegu, South Korea, because of injury.

Tamgho was one the main contenders for gold in triple jump along with Phillips Idowu of Britain. The Frenchman won the world indoor title two years ago.
