BERLIN -- Olympic silver medalist Markus Rogan of Austria broke his European record Sunday to win the 200-meter backstroke at a short-course World Cup swim meet.
Rogan was timed in 1:50.67, also a World Cup record. His previous European mark, 1:51.24, had stood since December. Rogan missed the world record, held by Aaron Peirsol of the United States, by 0.15 seconds.
In the men's 100 breaststroke, as in the 50 on Saturday, Oleg Lisogor of Ukraine beat Ed Moses of the United States. Lisogor touched first in 57.94 and Moses was second in 58.10.
Therese Alshammar of Sweden won twice Sunday, taking the 100-meter freestyle in 53.32 and the 50 butterfly in 25.79.
Ryk Neethling of South Africa, who broke the 100 medley world record Saturday, won the 200 freestyle Sunday in 1:42.75, but finished third in the 50 free.
South Africa's Roland Schoeman, who lost the medley mark Saturday but equaled the 100 free world record, won Sunday's 50 free in 21.45.
Yuri Prilukov of Russia won the 1,500 free for his fifth victory in the five meets of the current series. His time of 14:38.96 was his fastest of the five.
