Meuli wins gold, U.S. second, third in snowboarding

Presented by Epson

WILMINGTON, N.Y. -- Switzerland's Daniela Meuli beat Americans Michelle Gorgone and Rosey Fletcher in the women's World Cup snowboarding parallel giant slalom races Thursday.

The silver medal was the second of the season for Gorgone, who finished runner-up in a World Cup race less than a month ago. Meuli is the parallel giant slalom series points leader.

The men's contest was also won by a Swiss rider as Phillip Schoch defeated teammate Urs Eiselin in the final. Austria's Siegfried Grabner earned the bronze.

Adam Smith was the top U.S. finisher, placing ninth.
