Vancouver Committee gets boost from sponsorship money
VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Organizers of the 2010 Winter Olympics are showing increased revenue through greater than expected sponsorship money.
The latest quarterly financial report says VANOC received $99.5 million from several new sponsorship agreements this year, when it only expected $86.5 million.
CEO John Furlong says it's momentum that VANOC plans to take into the new year, although the committee's business plan still isn't complete.
VANOC has been criticized for not having the plan in place as promised by April 2005.
Furlong said at the release of the last quarterly report that the plan would be ready early in the new year.
He reiterated the pledge on Tuesday, although he still didn't provide a date.
