The return of the Indians to an American League park Friday will result in designated hitter Nick Swisher rejoining to the lineup. The team is set to play Seattle in a three-game series.
That's bad news is Swisher can't shake a slump that has plagued him all season and has been particularly nasty since he returned from the disabled list on June 12. He is 5 for 39 with 19 strikeouts during that stretch despite two game-winning homers.
Swisher, who is in the second year of a four-year contract that will pay him $56 million, owns a disturbing stat line of .196/.284/.326 on the season. His strikeout pace is far beyond anything he has previously experienced. Swisher has fanned 68 times in 224 at-bats.
