Hall of Famer Otto Graham passes away

Sarasota, FL (Sports Network) - Hall of Fame quarterback Otto Graham died Wednesday night due to a heart ailment.

The 82-year-old Graham was rushed to Sarasota Memorial Hospital earlier in the day with a condition similar to the one that killed actor John Ritter several months back, according to Graham's son.

Ritter passed away back in September after undergoing surgery for a tear in his aorta, suffering from a condition called aortic dissection.

Graham led the Cleveland Browns to seven league titles in 10 years, capturing four AAFC championships (1946-49) and three NFL crowns (1950, 54-55). The star signal-caller also accrued five All-Pro selections and two NFL MVP awards (1953, 55). He was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1965.

In addition to his excellence on the gridiron, Graham also excelled on the hardwood. The multi-talented two-sport star was an outstanding all-around athlete, earning All-American honors while playing basketball at Northwestern.

Graham even played a year of professional basketball during his first year with the Browns, doubling as a member of the Rochester Royals of the National Basketball League. The consummate winner, Graham helped the Royals capture the 1946 NBL championship.
