--FS Darren Sharper, signed as a free agent from Green Bay in the offseason, has the most interceptions in the NFL since 2002 with 31 and had a career-high three defensive touchdowns in 2004. CB Fred Smoot, also signed as a free agent, led Washington in interceptions in each of his first three seasons in the NFL to set a team record.

The combination of Sharper and Smoot (38 picks) ranks second to Tory James and Deltha O'Neal of Cincinnati (40 picks) for the most interceptions by a pair of current teammates since 2001.

--Pro Bowl DT Kevin Williams and DE Lance Johnstone combined for 22.5 sacks last season, making them the first Vikings tandem to post 10-plus sacks in consecutive seasons since Chris Doleman and John Randle in 1992-93.

--Injuries forced the Vikings to start six different combinations along the offensive line in 2004.

--QB Daunte Culpepper's passer rating of 93.2 is the third-highest in NFL history, trailing Steve Young (96.8) and Kurt Warner (95.7).

BY THE NUMBERS
5 -- First-round draft choices on the Vikings defense (LB Napoleon Harris, DE Erasmus James, DT Kevin Williams, CB Antoine Winfield and DE Kenechi Udeze.)
