United gets Hendrickson from Burn

WASHINGTON -- D.C. United acquired defender Ezra Hendrickson from the Dallas Burn on Wednesday for a fifth-round draft pick in 2005.

Hendrickson was waived by Dallas before the start of the season, but the Burn retained his rights. He has spent the last few months playing with the Charleston Battery of the A-League.

Hendrickson was drafted by the MetroStars in 1997 and was later traded to Los Angeles. He had 17 goals and 26 assists in 145 games for the Galaxy and was the team's MVP in 2001.

He was traded last year to the Burn, making 16 appearances with one goal and one assist.

Hendrickson, from St. Vincent and the Grenadines, has 50 appearances for the country's national team. He was captain of the squad that advanced to the semifinal qualifying phase for the 2006 World Cup.
