DENVER -- Nicolas Hernandez scored in the 35th minute as the Colorado Rapids defeated the Houston Dynamo 1-0 Wednesday night.

Hernandez's goal came off a low shot set up by a give-and-go pass from Thiago Martins.

The Dynamo had several scoring opportunities, including a shot by Brad Davis in the 71st minute that Rapids' goalkeeper Joe Cannon barely got a hand on to deflect off the crossbar.

Colorado (8-6-4) has two days off before they play Western Division leader FC Dallas on Saturday. Despite Wednesday's loss, Houston (8-4-7) remains in second place in the division ahead of Colorado.
