BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. -- Chicago Fire forward Cuauhtemoc Blanco had a goal and an assist Saturday to help his team beat the Kansas City Wizards 2-0 on Saturday.

Chicago's Ivan Guerrero was taken down at the top of the box in the 43rd minute, resulting in a free kick for the Fire (7-9-5).

Blanco sent the ball over the Wizards defensive wall, to the right of goalkeeper Kevin Hartman and into the upper-left corner for a 1-0 lead in the 44th minute.

Kansas City (9-8-5) almost had a goal in the 52nd minute. Davy Arnaud crossed the ball to Sasha Victorine, who sent it into the net, but was offside.

In the 87th minute, Blanco crossed a perfect ball into the net. Fire forward Calen Carr headed it home for a 2-0 lead.

After the goal, Blanco left the match. The 34-year-old midfielder and Mexican star has two goals and four assists in five MLS games.

Blanco has also become the most fouled player on the Fire with 28.

Carr replaced Chicago's Justin Mapp in the 28th minute. Mapp left the game after a hard foul in the 13th minute.

Fire defender Gonzalo Segares and Kansas City defender Jose Burciaga Jr. missed the game while serving one-game suspensions.
