CARSON, Calif. -- Jesse Marsch scored in the 31st minute and Brad Guzan recorded his third consecutive shutout in Chivas USA's 1-0 victory over Real Salt Lake on Sunday night.

Guzan's ninth shutout of the season tied him with New England's Matt Reis for the league lead.

Chivas USA (11-6-3) set a team record for wins and moved into a tie for second place with FC Dallas in Major League Soccer's Western Conference.

Real Salt Lake (2-11-6) extended its winless streak on the road to 14 games. The team has lost six of seven overall and tied a team record for fewest shots on goal in a game: one.

Marsch slid to redirect Ante Razov's right-wing pass inside the right post from three yards. Razov began the play with a corner kick but defender Jean-Martial Kipre headed the ball back to Razov, who chipped it to Marsch.

Real Salt Lake's Atiba Harris had the best chance to tie the game in the 84th minute but Guzan made his only save by deflecting Harris's 12-yard line drive with both hands.
