CARSON, Calif. -- Ante Razov scored in the first half to help Chivas USA defeat the Los Angeles Galaxy 3-0 on Thursday night.

With the win, Chivas (13-6-4) won a season series over the Galaxy (4-12-5) for the first time since joining Major League Soccer in 2005 and won the Doug Hamilton Memorial Trophy, after the Galaxy's general manager who died of a heart attack last year.

Francisco Mendoza and Laurent Merlin scored goals in the final two minutes to provide the final margin.

Chivas improved to 9-0-2 at home and lead the Western Conference with 43 points.

Razov opened the scoring in the 23rd minute. Lawson Vaughn sent Razov a long pass. Razov took control of the ball and dribbled into the penalty area. Razov held off Galaxy defender Abel Xavier and fired a shot from the right side of the 6-yard box off Galaxy goalkeeper Joe Cannon and over the goal line.

The goal was Razov's ninth of the season. His next goal would give him double-digit goals for the seventh time in his career and would be a MLS first. Razov was the first player to score 10 or more goals in six seasons a year ago.

Mendoza scored his second goal of the season, both against the Galaxy, in the 88th minute when he made a shot from 10 yards. In stoppage time, Merlin scored his first MLS goal when he sent a shot from 12 yards past Cannon.
