TORONTO -- Toronto FC's record scoring slump extended past 13 hours as it was held to a 0-0 draw with Real Salt Lake on Saturday.

The goalless run for the expansion team is at 822 minutes despite a slew of chances, a wide edge in play and Toronto holding a man advantage for the final 55 minutes against Salt Lake.

Toronto (5-13-6) is scoreless in its last nine matches and winless in 10. Real Salt Lake (4-13-7) is winless in three.

"We know where we need to improve next year and that's certainly in front of goal. And that has to happen," Toronto coach Mo Johnston said.

Sluggish finishing was the story for Toronto on Saturday. Even striker Jeff Cunningham, who on Friday guaranteed a goal, could not deliver when he came on in the 69th minute as a substitute, making his return from a sports hernia.

Toronto's last goal was July 7 in a 1-1 tie in Chicago, courtesy of midfielder Maurice Edu. Since then, the expansion franchise is 0-6-3 in MLS play and has been outscored 13-0.

Its last goals at home came June 17 in a 4-0 win over FC Dallas -- discounting a 4-2 exhibition loss to England's Aston Villa in late July.

Toronto came out shooting but failed to convert three great chances in the first half, when it outshot Real Salt Lake 12-3, 9-1 in shots on target, before 20,098 at BMO Field.

"They had their chances, but we fought and we came out with a point on an away game. Playing here in Toronto, that's big for us," said Salt Lake goalkeeper Nick Rimando. "That's like a win for us."
