BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. -- Jaime Moreno scored a late goal to give D.C. United a 1-1 tie with the Chicago Fire on Sunday.

In the 18th minute, Chicago's Cuauhtemoc Blanco sent a perfect forward pass to Chad Barrett, who split two defenders and beat goalkeeper Troy Perkins with a shot into the lower left corner of the net for a 1-0 lead.

Moreno tied the game in the 83rd minute. He grabbed a loose ball on the right side of the box, then floated it over Fire goalie Matt Pickens and into the left side of the net.

Just before halftime, D.C. United's leading scorer Luciano Emilio shot a ball toward the net out of Pickens' reach. Chicago defender Wilman Conde blocked the shot, sending the ball back into play.

Bakary Soumare and Conde took back-to-back shots for the Fire in the 95th minute, to no avail.

Playoff-bound D.C. United (15-6-5) was without midfielders Fred, Christian Gomez and Ben Olsen, and Chicago (8-10-8), which is still battling for a playoff spot, was without defender Gonzalo Segares. All are serving a one-game suspension for yellow card accumulation.

D.C. United's Bryan Namoff left the field on Sunday in the 43rd minute because of an undetermined injury.
