CARSON, Calif. -- Omar Cummings scored in the 90th minute to give the Colorado Rapids a 2-1 victory over CD Chivas USA on Sunday in Major League Soccer.
Ugo Ihemelu also had a second-half goal to help Colorado (9-12-8) remain in playoff contention. The Rapids (9-12-8) need a victory over Real Salt Lake on Saturday and some help to get into the postseason.
Orlando Perez scored in the 78th minute for Chivas in their first home loss of the season.
Before the match, Chivas announced that forward Ante Razov would miss six weeks or essentially the remainder of the season because of a sprained ligament in his left knee. Razov is second on the club with 11 goals.
Colorado defender Brandon Prideaux was sent off in the 46th minute when he knocked Chivas forward Maykel Galindo down from behind on a breakaway.
The Rapids, though, capitalized despite playing with 10 men. Ihemelu scored his first goal of the season in the 64th minute when he buried a shot into the back of the net from close range.
Chivas (15-6-8) eventually evened the score. In the 78th minute, Perez scored on a 12-yard shot. The goal was Perez's third of his eight-year career.
Colorado won the match in the 90th minute when Conor Casey found Cummings on the far post on a breakaway. Cummings effortlessly put the shot into the back of the net.
