SALT LAKE CITY -- Nick Rimando stopped Brian Mullan's shot from inside the penalty box in the 84th minute, preserving Real Salt Lake's 0-0 tie with the Houston Dynamo on Thursday.

Rimondo had three saves for his fifth shutout of the season to help Salt Lake (5-6-5) finish with its third scoreless tie in its last four home games.

Pat Onstad had four saves to earn his third shoutout of the season for Houston (4-4-8).

Salt Lake had a great scoring opportunity in the 17th minute when Kenny Deuchar headed the ball to a wide open Kyle Beckerman, who was alone in front of the Houston goal. However, Beckerman couldn't gain control of the ball and didn't get a shot off.

Beckerman had another great chance in the 24th minute and nearly scored, but his shot that got past Onstad was cleared off the goal line by Houston's Bobby Boswell.

Onstad came up with a pair of big saves in the second half to keep Salt Lake off the scoreboard. First, he stopped a line-drive header from Deuchar in the 57th minute, and then two minutes later he knocked aside the shot from defender Ian Joy.

Salt Lake's Chris Wingert received a red card in the 90th minute for throwing a punch at Houston's Dwayne De Rosario.
