COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Guillermo Barros Schelotto scored and had two assists for Columbus in the Crew's 3-0 win over Real Salt Lake on Saturday night.

Defender Chad Marshall and midfielder Brad Evans also scored and Will Hesmer made two saves for his fifth shutout. Columbus (11-6-4) equaled the 37 points it had in 30 matches last season.

Real Salt Lake (7-8-6) is 1-8-1 on the road. Schelotto, the league leader with 14 assists, had an assist and a penalty kick in a 10-minute span for 2-0 halftime lead.

He served a free kick from 25 yards left of goal to Marshall at the far post to give the Crew the advantage in the 15th minute after being fouled by Robbie Russell.

Marshall headed the ball past goalkeeper Nick Rimando for his third goal. Columbus increased the margin in the 25th minute when midfielder Eddie Gaven made a cutback on the right side of the penalty area and was tackled by defender Nat Borchers. Schelotto converted the penalty for the fourth time in four tries this season by placing the ball into the lower right corner.

The Crew made it 3-0 in the 55th minute when Schelotto found Gaven down the right flank. Gaven sent a cross to the penalty spot where Evans headed it home for his fourth goal. Hesmer made his first save in the 71st minute on Andy Williams. Hesmer also made a diving stop to his right on by Russell in the 76th.

Salt Lake was without forward Will Johnson, who was acquired Friday from Chicago for SuperDraft picks in 2009 and 2011. He spent the past three years playing in the Netherlands.

Defender Frankie Hejduk and forward Alejandro Moreno started for the Crew after playing national team matches Wednesday for the United States and Venezuela, but midfielder Emmanuel Ekpo missed his fourth match for Columbus while helping Nigeria to an Olympic silver medal Saturday against Argentina.
