Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo may just be staying at the club after all. A day after club president Florentino Perez supported the player and said he will continue with the club, Ronaldo has reportedly calmed down and remains committed to Los Blancos, according to the cover of Wednesday's AS.

Why is this report, amid much of the rumors and gossip flying around, important? As noted in the tweet above, AS's report is coming from someone close to Jorge Mendes, who is Ronaldo's agent.

In addition, there were reports that Ronaldo's former boss Jose Mourinho, who is now at CR7's former home and the club rumored to be his most likely destination in Manchester United said that he was not interested in a reunion at Old Trafford. According to those reports, Mou thinks this has all been a ploy from his Portuguese compatriot to get more money and respect from Madrid.

And he may be getting at least one of those two things. The AS report says Ronaldo "has felt comforted by Florentino's defense." Expected to be the outcome since the rumors of a departure surfaced, Perez was going to speak with Ronaldo after the Confederations Cup in order to not interrupt Portugal's concentration during their participation in Russia.

Though that will still happen, this is a good sign for Real fans who grew nervous at the thought of the club's most popular player in history departing.
