Wayne Rooney could be on his way out of Manchester. New manager Jose Mourinho, who has had a rough go of things at United, is open to selling Rooney, per ESPNFC. Mourinho's squad has won just one of its last six Premier League matches.

Rooney hasn't been a first-choice player for Mourinho this year. After starting the first six games of the season, he has only started once since the end of September, which was in the Europa League. He didn't even feature for United in the blowout 4-0 loss to Chelsea on Sunday.

The report suggests Mourinho no longer sees the captain as having a primary role and that he is looking to boost his squad in January, with Rooney being an option to leave.

Rooney signed a new deal in January of 2014. As for possible options, there will be links to MLS, but at 31 he can still play at a high level. Outside of MLS, the Chinese Super League has long been linked with Rooney and could offer a big transfer fee to United, but it would be up to Rooney to agree to a move. Also keep an eye on Everton, Rooney's first professional club where he made a quick impact, scoring five days before his 17th birthday.
