The transfer window remains open in Europe as teams look to improve their squads before it closes towards the end of the month. Here are the latest rumors and news from the world of soccer that you need to know.

'Gabigol' to Manchester United?

Manchester United's busy transfer window doesn't look set to end. According to Sport, the Red Devils lead the race to sign Brazilian wonderkid Gabriel Barbosa of Santos. The 19-year-old striker, currently with the national team at the Olympics, has been linked to Leicester City, Juventus, Bayern Munich and others, with his transfer likely to surpass $30 million. A quick, clinical striker, he is looked at as one of the top young soccer talents in the world.

Valencia's Alcacer on Barcelona's radar

The last team that needs help in attack is Barcelona, but the Catalan clubs are reportedly after Valencia star striker Paco Alcacer, per Sport. With Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez up top, Alcacer probably wouldn't see a lot of time on the field if he makes a move. If he does get sent to Barca, it looks to be in the region of $30 million dollars. Alcacer scored 43 goals in 123 games for Valencia. Club owner Peter Lim has reportedly met with Barca over a potential transfer while discussing other moves, like goalkeeper Diego Alves joining the reigning league champs.

Chelsea eyes defender

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is looking to sign German left-back Jonas Hector from Cologne, per ESPNFC. The talented defender, also courted by Liverpool, could replace Cesar Azpilicueta in the starting XI. But the report suggest that a move is complicated after he agreed to a contract extension with the German club last week.

West Ham gets a striker

West Ham has signed Argentine striker Jonathan Calleri on a year-long loan. The young, talented attacker last played for Sao Paulo in Brazil where he was top scorer in the Copa Libertadores. He previously played with former West Ham favorite Carlos Tevez while at Boca Juniors. With the Hammers short of options in attack, especially a mobile striker, Calleri could turn out to be a big signing for the London-based club.
