The USWNT heads to Rio on a high note. USATSI

Before focus completely shifts to the Summer Olympics, the United States women's national team had one more pre-Rio test, battling Costa Rica on Friday in a friendly in Kansas City, Kansas.

Well, actually, it wasn't much of a test.

The U.S. scored three goals in the first half in a dominant 4-0 victory. Crystal Dunn, Mallory Pugh, Carli Lloyd and Christen Press each scored for the Americans, who in Brazil are in Group G with New Zealand, France and Colombia.

Dunn opened the scoring on 15 minutes with a simple finish at the far post.

Pugh bagged the second of the game 22 minutes in with some fine skill down the left.

Lloyd, back from injury, made it 3-0 in first half added time with a fine header off a set piece.

Cruising at the break and with the goal to avoid injury above all else, the U.S. was able to threaten in attack with Press scoring close with 12 minutes to go for the fourth and final strike.

Defensively, it was a fine display for the U.S., who had little trouble with the Central Americans, clearing out any danger in what was an easy contest in the end.

With the result in hand, the U.S. now prepares to head to Brazil for the Olympics, where it will debut on August 3 against New Zealand. The American ladies have made the gold medal match in every Olympic soccer tournament in which they've played.
