They thought it was all over at the U12 PA West tournament at Edinboro University.

Tied 4-4 after two overtime periods, last week's game between the Hollidaysburg Hurricanes and Canon Mac went to penalty kicks.

After four kicks from each side, Canon Mac led 3-2 when Hollidaysburg's Ethan Little stepped up to take his shot.

He lined up, got a nice, clean strike and -- so close, off the crossbar.

The goalie celebrated as Little walked off the field, but then a strange thing happened. The ball, which had ricocheted directly above the goal, landed right behind the goalie and bounced into the net.

There was a moment of all-around confusion, then parents started screaming, "That's a goal!"

The referee agreed and granted Hollidaysburg with the goal, which extended the shootout long enough for the Hurricanes to come back and win.
