CARSON, Calif. -- The Los Angeles Galaxy traded midfielder Santino Quaranta to the New York Red Bulls on Friday in exchange for a conditional pick in the fourth round of next year's MLS superdraft.
Quaranta appeared in six games for the Galaxy this season, making three starts. He also appeared in three of the Galaxy's four reserve-division games.
He joined the Galaxy last August after spending the first 5 ½ years of his career with D.C. United. Quaranta has appeared in 80 career games and scored 17 goals, three of which came in his 18 games with the Galaxy.
"This move was made to address salary cap and roster-spot issues," general manager Alexi Lalas said.
Forward Carlos Pavon was officially added to the roster after signing with the Galaxy on June 20. He captained the Honduran national team to the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Gold Cup and led the tournament with five goals, four of which came in a 5-0 win over Cuba on June 13.
