VIGO, Spain (AP) -Birmingham City has signed Spain midfielder Borja Oubina on loan from Celta Vigo, the Spanish second-division club said Friday.
Birmingham will also have the option to make Borja's move permanent, Celta added.
Borja, capped twice, has spent his career with Celta but asked to leave when the club was relegated at the end of last season.
"I'm happy because I'm going to play in such a powerful and attractive league as the English one," the 25-year-old Borja was quoted as saying by news agency Efe. "It's true that I would have liked Celta to transfer me and not go out on loan but the club didn't want that."
Birmingham lies 12th in the 20-team Premier League with four points from four matches.
